Album: Africa

This is compilation of my favorite images from several trips to Africa.

Zebra foal drinking.
I’ve always read that zebra stripes are like human fingerprints; no two are alike. I was fascinated verify that fact with great close-up observations.
Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill. I wonder how it got that name?

Wildebeest are also called Gnus.
Wildebeest at sunset
Wildebeest remind me a lot of teenage humans; all arms and legs with lots of awkwardness.
Wart hod. I think she winked at me.
White-backed vultures squabbling over meat.
White-backed Vulture.
Silhouette of a Wooly-necked Stork
White Rhinoceros are not white. The name is derived from the Afrikaner word for “wide” referring to the wide lip. They are grazers and their lips allow them to pluck grass efficiently Their cousins, Black Rhinoceros, has a prehensile lip, almost finger-tip, for browsing.

I love being in places where I’m NOT the alpha predator.

Kudos. Each spiral represents 2 1/2 to 3 years of age.
Black-backed Jackal in the middle of a flock of White-necked Vultures.

The vultures never ate well with Black-backed Jackals about.
